Address: Pasala Thomas, Door No. 47-1-15, Lourdhu Nagar, Mother Theresa Street, Gunadala, Vijayawada, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh State
Relationship: Direct Witness; native of Gottimukkala village. At the age of 20, he met Brother Joseph Thamby at Gottimukkala village.
I was 20 years old when I saw Brother Joseph Thamby for the first time when I came to Peddavutapally village. It was the Lenten Season. Showraiah, my brother-in-law was working as a cook to Rev. Fr. John B. Calderaro, the parish priest at Peddavutapally.
Brother Joseph Thamby was sent to our
village, namely, Gottimukkala for prayer service. That was a Friday of the
Lenten season. On that day at 2 o’ clock in the afternoon came to our village
Church and asked my father for the Church key. My father gave me the key and asked
me to open the Church. Since my father was catechist, the church key was kept
at my home.
I opened the Church. Brother Joseph
Thamby entered the Church and began to pray. I was waiting for him outside the
Church. He did not come till 6 o’ clock in the evening. Then I heard him
shouting, “Cotton, cotton”. I went into the Church and saw him and then I ran
home and brought the cotton. He asked me to wipe the blood that was on his
palms and feet. I wiped the blood with the cotton. After wiping the blood, I
have not seen the wounds that I saw before wiping the blood.
At 8 o’ clock, I have asked him to come home for taking meals. Since it was Friday, he told me that he would not take meals. He requested me to bring the cot to the church so that he would sleep there. I brought the cot from my home and kept at the church. He also asked me to sleep in the church. I soon fell asleep.
When it was morning, I got up and did
not find Brother Joseph Thamby. I was surprised. Then I left to Peddavutapally
to visit Showraiah my brother-in-law. At the request of my brother-in-law, I stayed
with him for a week.
While I was in Peddavutapally, Brother
Joseph Thamby called and asked me to cook rice in the little house where he was
staying. I cooked rice for him. He asked me to cover the rice pot and close the
house. I locked the house. Brother Joseph Thamby gave the key to Showraiah my
brother-in-law. Then he went somewhere and returned after three days.
When he came back, he got the key from
Showraiah and asked me to open the house. I opened the door. He asked me to
remove the cover from the rice pot. I was so surprised to see the rice that I
cooked three days ago was still hot and smoke was coming from the pot.
I told these two incidents that I had
witnessed to Showraiah my brother-in-law. My brother-in-law also told me that
Brother Joseph Thamby does miracles of various kind. The Church at Gottimukkala
village visited by Brother Joseph Thamby is still there. Rev. Fr. Ambrose Battista
was the parish priest of Gottimukkala village. Today, many people who visit the
tomb of Brother Joseph Thamby are receiving different favours.

Mr. Pasala Thomas
